Navaratri is the time when Divine Mother makes Herself available and responds to your devotion and intentions.
The first night is sunset on March 24; first fire ceremony is 10:08 a.m. on March 25

Navaratri, 9 Nights of the Goddess

Navaratri comes from the combination of two words ‘nav’ meaning nine and ‘ratri’ which means night in Sanskrit. Navratri means the nine nights of celebration of the Goddess. Night symbolizes darkness, ignorance. We have to remove darkness from our lives for the light to come forth and this is done through the worship of Mother Durga.
During the nine nights, Navaratri dedicates three days each to worshipping Mother Durga in the divine manifestations of her energy as Durga/Kali, Lakshmi and Saraswati. The tenth day is known as ‘Vijayadashami’ meaning the day of victory which celebrates the triumph of good over evil or spiritual awakening.

Spring Navaratri is celebrated when the life force in creation is at its peak. The same energy that is responsible for creation, sustenance and destruction of the entire universe lies within us in a dormant form that needs to be awakened. At the beginning of Spring, Divine Mother’s energy is rising in Nature to regenerate and re-create. Due to changes occurring in nature at this junction of climatic conditions, our bodies and minds undergo considerable change. It is therefore, a sacred opportunity to worship Mother Durga through intense sadhana in this most favourable time lapse. When she is invoked, we are attuned to her primordial force and the awakening process which comes through her worship is extremely powerful as it is aligned with her ascending energy.

Traditional Ways to Honor Divine Mother during Navaratri
Usually, certain 'sacrifices' or personal offerings are made during the nine days, such as giving up some certain food or drink or something you are accustomed to having or doing every day. Some people restrict themselves to one meal per day at noon time. Some give up a favorite beverage for the 9 days. In the West, some give up TV or some other daily thing. It's kind of like 'giving up something for Lent.'  Each time you think of that thing or reach for it, you offer up that desire to Divine Mother.  Om Shri Maha Kali

The most auspicious days are considered to be:
DAY ONE, DAY FIVE (turning point), and DAY NINE.
When you have completed your commitment for the nine days, you are promised a 'physical manifestation' of Divine Mother in some form on the 10th day.  Sometimes it takes creative vision to see this, but it always happens.

We have a special time during THIS Navaratri to pray for the health and well-being of people all over the world.  Those of you in lockdown or whatever, please offer up your prayers during this time... for the benefit of all humanity.  While in prayer, there is no room for Fear.
